MESI ERUPTS FOR 5 GOALS; Visualeyes Wins Third Straight

For the first time since February 2012, Visualeyes skated to their third win in a row, defeating UBSDM 9-7 Thursday night at Buffalo State Arena.

Team V got off to a slow start, surrendering an early lead to the School of Dentistry on a funny bounce off the end wall. Eric Schottke responded though, scoring the first goal for Visualeyes on a battle for a loose puck in front of the net. The line of Robert Simpson, Dust-Pan Dunnigan and Schottke continued to control play in their next shift, creating several scoring opportunities. Simpson blasted home his 15th of the year and Visualeyes' second of the night when Schottke carried the puck behind UBDSM's net and threw a pass over the skirt of the net to find a wide open Simpson just below the left hash mark.

MESI NETS 5 IN HIS RETURN
Team V took a 2 goal lead after T.J. Cooper provided some precision passing to find Matthew Mesi who began his scoring tear. UBDSM added another goal in the final minutes of the first period to make the score 3-2.

UBDSM tied up the score at 3 early on in the second  until Matthew Mesi's scoring frenzy continued. Mesi blew the roof off of Buffalo State, finishing with five goals, earning first star honors. "After missing almost a month of play, it was great to see Marvin (Mesi) get back into the mix, looking like he hasn't missed a shift" said D-man Drew Leberer. After the superior performance, Mesi had this to say, "For want of a nail, the kingdom was lost."

Garren Reisweber added four assists in the win over UBDSM, good enough to earn second star of the night. Cooper, Mesi and Reisweber's offensive production lead the way for the remainder of the game, securing Team V's third win in a row.

Visualeyes now looks ahead to face-off against the top team in the EMHL, Winter's Whalers. Visualeyes took down the reeling Whale in their last meeting, 9-8 in a shootout. At that time, the Whale was undefeated, and the hottest team in the league. They have since cooled off, losing to La Nova, Chef's and the Indians. The rivalry between Visualeyes and Winter's Whalers is unparalleled and wily veteran Matt English proved that. "I'd like to place a personal bounty on the head of Bobby Carroll. He's the coach and chief punk of that Whaler's team." noted English. Andy "Andychuck" Valint also showed there is some bad blood between the two squads, "Every day, twice a day, at 11:11, I make a wish for just one chance to bare knuckle Bryan Carroll. He is a worm. This Thursday, he better grow a backbone because the reaper is coming!"

Great seats are still available for Wednesday's meeting between Team V and The Whalers at 9:20 PM at Buffalo State Arena.

NEWS AND NOTES:
