Team V Shellacks the Peace Frogs in Season Opener

After a shortened off-season filled with Cup parties and celebrations, Team V's off-ice workouts were limited, and many critics thought the team would suffer early on in season. They were wrong. Visualeyes dominated play and beat the Peace Frogs 13-4. 13 goals, three hat-tricks, one double play-maker and two play-makers later, Visualeyes opened up their 2011-2012 campaign with a win.

Matt English-Gunning scored the first goal of the season on a quick shot from the point on the power play minutes into the game. T.J. Cooper added the assist on English-Gunning's tally, and then added the next Visualeyes score with seven minutes remaining in the first frame. After the first period, Visualeyes found themselves in a tight 2-1 game until they shifted gears into the second.

Cooper led the way in the second, netting three goals, helping team V take a 10-2 lead into the third period. Garren Reisweber and Jeremiah Crowe-Vivian also added hat-tricks. Crowe-Vivian had some impressive end to end rushes while Reisweber's offensive zone vision added to the onslaught.

Visualeyes cruised through the third, adding three more goals to bring home the first W of the season.

Cooper led the way with 7 points. After the game, Cooper said, "Yeah its been a while since I've skated, last season to be exact. I literally thought I was bleeding out of my ears and was going to vomit on the ice. I never made it to the gym in the off season after serving that suspension for my off ice actions during the playoffs last year. I'm looking to make a come back this season."

Duff Dunnigan had 6 assists, Don Borsuk had three helpers as well. Adam Roma-Wagner stood tall in between the pipes for Visualeyes stopping 16 of 20 shots.
