ENGLISH-GUNNING and DONNELLY Help Take Down the Brownshafts

Team V beat the Brownshafts 10-7 Monday in a prime time game at Buffalo State Arena. A complete team effort helped Visualeyes take down the Brownshafts, where each player chipped in at least one point in the victory.

Visualeyes jumped out to a fast start, leading 4-0 after the first stanza and put the game on cruise control from there.

"FINALLY!!!"
Two players, Matt English-Gunning (West Seneca) and Ryan Donnelly (Tonawanda), each scored their first goals of the season. English-Gunning's coming off the sticks of fellow Geneseo Ice Knight, Dan Brown (Lancaster) and team leading scorer, Eric Schottke (Tonawanda). After the win, Schottke said, "Great line combos, I wouldn't change the lineup for many games to follow."

Donnelly Jumps into the Rush
Donnelly finally found the back of the net , after jumping into the rush and beating the Brownshaft's goalie from Don Borsuk (West Seneca) and Bob Simpson-Corigliano (Tonawanda). Simpson-Corigliano, who trails Schottke by 5 points for the team lead in points commented after the game on Donnelly's first of the year. "I was real proud of Ryan scoring his first goal. He saw that we had enough guys back, and picked a good time to join the rush. Borsy found him in the slot and Ryan was able to finish. Ryan made a lot of terrible pinches though."

Putting the game on cruise control almost came back to haunt Team V, as they gave up five goals in four minutes halfway through the third period. "We kind of collapsed there in the third for a couple shifts. We had some guys out there with bad edges. My left winger could only turn right and my right winger could only turn left, but they still battled." added Don Borsuk.

Goaltender Adam Roma (Lancaster), earned his 13th victory of the season, contrary to the EMHL Pointstreak website. Visualeyes also improved to 5-0-1 against B-league opponents and has not been beaten in regulation since December 7th, 2010 (eight games).

Visualeyes returns to their normal A-league schedule this Thursday against the well rested Westfield's Whalers at 8:50pm. Team V's endurance will be put to the test, playing their second game in three nights, while the Whale have been off since January 29th. Team V looks to lay the body early on top scorers Bob Carroll and Brendon Bishop to set the tone.

NEWS AND NOTES:
-Eric Schottke and Drew Leberer (North Tonawanda) represented Visualeyes in the EMHL All-Star game for the EMHL South team last Saturday, losing 13-6 to the EMHL North All-Stars. Schottke added a goal and an assist while Leberer finished +6 on the evening.

-Andrew Valint (Tonawanda) has been heating up as of late, but will be sidelined for the next game due to a lower body injury/Thursday night bowling league. Player/Coach/GM/Equipt. Mgr Drew Leberer thought providing Valint with a maintenance day Thursday would be ideal, especially with the next game against Elmwood Cozumel and since Andy guaranteed a goal and a fight against the hated rivals.
