MESI LEADS TEAM V WITH 6 POINTS

MESI
A few weeks away from the EMHL proved to be all Matt Mesi (Orchard Park) needed to put the spark back into his game. Mesi exploded for six points, (2G, 4A), Sunday evening leading Visualeyes over the Peace Frogs 8-4. After the game, Mesi commented on his time away from the rink noted how the time away gave him the ability to gather his thoughts about his play on the ice and how refreshed he felt. Mesi also said, “One word, team work.”

Team V jumped out to a 1-0 lead four minutes into the game off the stick of Eric Schottke (Tonawanda). Andy Valint (Tonawanda) cleared out any Peace Frog defenders in his path with a howitzer from the top of the circle, opening up room for Schottke to hammer home the rebound. The goal by Visualeyes’ leading scorer was the only for him and the rest of his line that night as Mesi, Max Bonito (Amherst) and Garren Reisweber (Williamsville) took over, putting on a show, combining for 14 points. Reisweber netted his first career EMHL hat trick, while Bonito and Mesi knocked in two goals each. “It was good to see Matty and Maxi back together making things happen.” Remarked Bob Simpson-Corigliano (Tonawanda).

Adam Roma (Lancaster) earned his 14th win of the season, and was ready from the drop of the puck. A huge save on a 2 on 1 early on in the game, gave the momentum Visualeyes needed to start their engines. Roma carried a shutout late into the second period until most of his teammates drifted away from the game plan. Roma took a few questionable shots from the Frogs, specifically one with 20 seconds to go in the contest. “Some plug walked in over the blue line, wound up like Tommy tough guy trying to break Chara’s hardest shot record, drilling Roma square in the face mask with a clapper.” said Drew Leberer (North Tonawanda). Following the shot to Roma’s face, Reisweber grabbed the rebound, cruised up ice and let go of a bomb in response right at the Peace Frog’s goalie’s head with 4 seconds to go. “I loved that Garren responded that way, that’s why we called him up for the game, he’s really showing he wants to be a part of the team.”

Ryan Donnelly (Tonawanda) added an assist in the win Sunday and was also impressed with Reisweber’s showing. “It wasn’t a pretty game, but we fought hard and battled together. Prime example was Garren ripping that clapper off of their goalie’s face because they took a cheap shot at Roma. I really thought it was a come together type of game for the team. The only problem was that someone kept crop-dusting the bench before their shift which made life uncomfortable on the bench.”

FEDELE on the "PK"
Prospect, Chris Fedele (Williamsville) was called up for his third game of the season with Team V, had an impressive penalty kill, which almost led to his first career shot on net.

Enforcer Steve Browne (Kenmore) missed Sunday night’s match up while in Florida said via web cam, “I’m glad you guys were able to make the proper adjustments while I was out on my scouting assignment.”
