Visualeyes Cruises to 6-3 Win over Cozumel

Trailing Cozumel by two points in the hunt for the third spot in the EMHL, Visualeyes had an opportunity to jump up in the standings Monday evening at Buffalo State Arena. Team V came ready to play,  dressing more than two lines for the first time this season and the depth in their lineup proved to be the difference maker in a 6-3 victory over Cozumel.

The speedy T.J. Cooper got on the score-sheet first for Visualeyes, netting his 12th goal on the season on a pass from Matt Mesi. Not to be out done, Eric Schottke, the leading scorer in the EMHL increased Team V's lead by two over Cozumel the next shift from Don Borsuk. Cozumel would bring the score within one before the end of the period when Ian Braun scored.

Crowe leads the way in 6-3 win over Cozumel with 1G, 1A
Cozumel quickly tied the score at two in the early parts of the second frame. It looked as if Team V was on a familiar path to giving up the lead, and losing another two points until the tempo was pushed by the play of blue-liner Jeremiah Crowe. Crowe has missed a large chunk of the season with Team V battling an upper body injury and Visualeyes has missed his moxie. Crowe earned an assist on Schottke's 28th tally of the year. A minute and a half after Schottke took the lead for Visualeyes, Matt Mesi put home what would be the game winning goal after a spectacular rush and pass by Ryan Donnelly. "A key to the victory was the "dabba" that (Jeremiah) Crowe brought to the game last night, both on the ice and on the bench." said Mesi after the win.

Visualeyes would add two more goals in the third period, the fifth of the evening by an Adam Bellows blast from the point with Garren "Ranch-Hand" Reisweber assisting, and the sixth off the stick of Jeremiah Crowe from Mesi and Max Bonito. Visualeyes cruised to their 13th win of the year, putting them in a deadlock for third place with Cozumel with only two games remaining in the regular season.

Goaltender Matt Baudo earned first star, and Team V player of the game honors, posting his best performance of the season stopping 33 of 36 shots. Baudo had this for the media post-game. "I don't think I have any bigger man crush right now that I do for Adam Bellows. Just watching his magical hands on the ice makes me realize why his wife loves him. I just with this guy would stop taking magical school bus rides around the world so I could continue to watch my GAA drop. In being named player of the game, I would like to thank all four of my D-men for their outstanding efforts. The words "Nice play Donnelly" actually came out of my mouth last night."
