Tap Room Ends Visualeyes' Streak

Visualeyes came out of the gate flat Monday night in a prime time game against Third Street Tap Room. A 7-6 shootout loss put an end to Team V's 7 game unbeaten streak.

Visualeyes beat themselves in the first period, falling behind Tap Room 5-1 after only 15 minutes. Sloppy play and missed opportunities were the only constant for Team V in the first. Visualeyes battled back in the second and and third, scoring five and only letting in one. Jeremiah Vivian, Adam Bellows, Matt English-Gunning and Eric Schottke provided the scoring for Visualeyes in the fight back against Tap Room, and Matt Baudo, in his third start for Team V, looked sharp.

Bonito's Stick Breaks in Shootout
EMHL leading scorer, Eric Schottke continued his scoring tear, recording his third hat-trick of the season, but unfortunately that tear didn't roll over into the shootout. Schottke missed Team V's first attempt in the shootout. Adam Bellows went next after Tap Room scored their second shootout goal and buried on a nifty deke. Matt Baudo shut the door on the Tap's third attempt, giving Max Bonito the chance to keep the game alive. Bonito saw the opening beat Tap Room's goalie beat through the five hole, but his stick snapped in half on the shot, leaving the puck sitting on the goal line in a large pile of snow behind the goaltender.

After the game, EMHL leading scorer, Schottke fought with himself over the loss. "I couldn't sleep after missing my second straight shootout attempt. Time to refocus and put some extra hours in after practice."

"We couldn't bury the puck tonight. Bottom line, we couldn't finish. Open nets, a bunch of posts, poorly placed shots, you name it, we beat ourselves tonight. There were a few good things we can take from the loss though. We battled back, down 4 goals to get the point is one. We got a few guys back from injury back in the the line up. It's a long year, we'll put this one behind us and start looking forward to the next one against the Whale." said Drew Leberer-Kasperczyk.
