Visualeyes Wins 3rd Straight

It wasn’t pretty, but 2 points are 2 points, as it took Team Visualeyes extra time to knock off the first place team in the B league, UBSDM 6-5 in inter league EMHL action.

With all the hype of Steve Browne returning to the Team V lineup, the Buffalo State Arena was buzzing. “I haven’t seen that many Kenmore residents in a set of bleachers since the East/West football game of ’68.” Said Duff Dunnigan after the win.  Browne did not fail to entertain his fans as he netted one goal and two assists in his first game back in over 8 months. Browne started the scoring with a pretty pass to Dunnigan, who found Leberer-Kasperczyk open in the high slot. Leberer-Kasperczyk used his signature quick release to beat the goalie just under his arm-pit. A few shifts later on the power play, Browne beat UBSDM’s goalie with a wrister from the slot with 2:59 left in the first. Browne continued to dazzle his opponents just 30 seconds later on a feed to Visualeyes’ leading scorer Eric Schottke.

At the end of one period, Visualeyes lead 3-1 but seemed to take some pressure off the gas. Goals from Adam Bellows and call up Kevin Rogers in the second increased the lead, but not by much as the UBSDMs battled back to make the score 5-4.

Visualeyes seemed confused with UBSDM’s fore-checking style of dumping and chasing in the third period and allowed two goals to lose their lead and chance of a regulation win. With the score tied at 6 and heading into a shootout, Leberer-Kasperczyk tapped Eric Schottke, Adam Bellows and Matt Mesi on the shoulder to shoot. Strong goal-tending by Adam Roma and goals by Schottke and Bellows sealed the deal as Team V locked up their 7th win on the year.

DENZ SAYS "A W IS A W"
“We’ll take the W, but when a B league team takes you to extra time you cannot feel good about that. We’ll get it shored up with a few good practices here and be ready to go next game.” Said Mike Denz.

Eric Schottke scored once and added three assists on top of his shootout goal which pushed him to the top of the Visualeyes’ scoring list with 27 points (12G, 15A) had this to say after the win. “Duffy’s feeble attempt to get me sick just to maintain his point lead was very selfish. A simple cold cannot hold me down especially when I’m playing alongside superstars like Rogie and brownie. He needs to stop focusing on soccer, naps and point leads, and start focusing on the V’s success. Also not to name names but Bob Simpson (#18) needs to really evaluate his priorities, nothing comes before the V, nothing.”
