TEAM V TOPS THE WHALE; 8-5

Visualeyes can not only “talk the talk”, but confirmed they can “walk the walk” Tuesday night, in a 8-5 victory over Westfield’s Whalers. Bob Simpson-Corigliano sent out a message before the game, guaranteeing the win, shocking the entire EMHL.

Great Change by English-Gunning
Westfield’s responded to Simpson-Corigliano's prediction by calling up the HOHL’s (Hockey Outlet Hockey League) PIM leader, Bryan Carroll, to try and intimidate the likes of Visualeyes.  The call up by the Whale was unsuccessful however, as Visualeyes came out of the gate with a fury as Andrew Valint slammed home a rebound into an empty net just a minute into the contest. Team V kept the heat on in the first, with goals from Dan Brown, Donny “Bones” Borsuk, and Garren Reisweber.

The Whale answered back in the second period, netting three goals, bringing the score within one.  Brendan Bishop tied up the score at 5 for the Whale just 30 seconds into the third period. Westfield’s looked like they had Team V on the ropes until “Dangerous” Dan Brown took over, scoring his 21st and 22nd goals, putting the game out of reach for the Whale. “It was a great W for the V, plain and simple, we are the better team” said Brown Wednesday afternoon.

Team V Grinding it out
Adam Roma and Team V’s defensive corps held the EMHL’s leading scorer, Robby Carroll Jr. to just one point in the victory, and shut the entire Whale down in the third period, fighting off a 6 on 5 attack after the Whale pulled their goalie with 90 seconds remaining.

“I’m just real glad to see the guys come through with a big win. I thought it was a total team effort from the offense all the way back to Roma. We had some key scratches to the game that allowed us to open up our play a little bit and go for the win. Just feel real good about the direction this team is going heading into the playoffs.”
Team V will finish off the regular season, Monday, March 21st against Pappas Indians. A win against the Indians would lock up 2nd place, giving Visualeyes a first round bye in the playoffs.

NEWS AND NOTES:

-Jerry Crowe's two assists against Westfield's moved his point total to 36 (15G, 21A), leading all EMHL D-men.
